Kolkata officials: "stay indoors after 9 PM" as Remal storm hits

  • Kolkata Municipal Corporation issues alert for Remal storm and sets up helpline numbers: 9432610428, 9432610429
  • Residents advised to stay indoors from 9 pm tonight until 10 am tomorrow
  • 80 pumping stations ready for evacuation, with officials assuring there is no need to worry

Kolkata officials:

In anticipation of the approaching Remal storm, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has issued an alert and set up a helpline to assist residents. The helpline numbers from Lalbazar are 9432610428 and 9432610429.

Tarak Singh, MIC of the Municipal Corporation, advised that "the people of Kolkata should not leave their homes after 9 pm tonight and should avoid going out even before 10 am tomorrow." Preparations have been made with 80 pumping stations on standby to handle any emergency evacuations.
